Campus recruitments are always daunting, and to filter from a pool of around 500 students is never easy. Mocha gave us the perfect platform for skills assessments wherein we shortlisted 25 developers in just 2 campus drives.
T. Thiagu
Operations Manager, Cloud Assert
Being one of the fastest-growing cloud-based technology companies, Cloud Assert was looking to expand its workforce. Since it wanted to hire top-notch talent, Could Assert decided to conduct campus drives only at the top engineering colleges.
Campus drives are one of the most tedious and exhaustive hiring processes since they involve a large-scale operation. The major challenge faced during campus drives for recruitment teams is handling logistical issues like the number of students attending the drive, deciding on the hiring mechanism, and coordinating with the concerned authorities.
The team wanted to complete campus drives in a single day - that was the real challenge. They were looking for that kind of stringent process & mechanism. Traditional assessment methods require tremendous manual effort and time. With almost 500+ students expected for the drive, there was clearly a need for an automated process.
Cloud Assert’s recruitment team, headed by T. Thiagu, Operations Manager, designed the hiring process with iMocha’s skills assessments. The recruiting team, with the help of Mocha’s Customer Success team, created 4 assessments, each assessment more difficult than the previous one. Since the hiring was for developers, the assessments were a mix of MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) and Coding questions.
The first assessment was shared with 525 students, of which 215 progressed to level 2 assessments, which had coding questions. Out of 215, 100 were shortlisted for level 3 assessment. Out of 100, 32 made it to the level 4 assessment. Ultimately, 25 top performers in level 4 were lined up for interviews with the management. All this was done in the mere span of 10 hours!
The same process was followed at another university, and 9 candidates were extended offer letters.
Cloud Assert shortlisted 25 and 9 skilled developers in 2 campus drives, respectively. They have designed an automated hiring process that helps them focus on quality talent.
